I was living in Texas when the Luby's massacre happened. That is exactly why I carry today. She hit the nail on the head with her final statement.

I have long said that the Second Amendment is the glue that holds the Bill of Rights together. With that one simple statement, the Founding Fathers insured that every other right acknowledged as God-given by the US Constitution could stand the test of time. Strip that one statement out of the Bill of Rights, and the document ceases to have ANY meaning and any intrinsic value. It will become a historical footnote. There are a couple of hundred (if not thousand!) liberals in Washington who are hard at work trying to destroy what our forefathers fought, bled and died to build. That in itself should make any American angry. Understanding that they are doing it with the hopes of establishing a Socialist nation should make an Americans blood boil. Those people who stood up and cast off tyranny didn't go through the hell they went through to establish a nanny state where everyone is under the thumb of government. They did it to establish a nation of free men and women who could each work hard and be rewarded for their toil. They did it in the hopes that a people could truly be free from tyranny, even though they knew that our republic would eventually allow tyranny to slip in and take hold. No government or system is perfect. Our forefathers knew this too. But, they also knew that no other form of government so empowers its people to go out and seek their dreams and fortunes and happiness the way ours does. No other form of government allows its people to reach within themselves and rise as far or soar as high as our constitutional republic and its guaranteed freedoms. But like all governments, ours has become full of the powerful and corrupt whose primary objectives are the increase of their power and the usurpation of ours. Free men and women are much harder to place in chains than those who have already surrendered to the yoke. The Founding Fathers provided the Second Amendment to insure that if the time ever came when the tyrants had so thoroughly corrupted our government to the point where it was no longer a government For The People, that the people would have a recourse. The Second Amendment was intended as a last chance to save our freedoms so that all the generations after us would have a free nation and the opportunity to soar as high as their hard work could take them. If we let the Nancy Pelosi's and Barack Obamas of the world go uncontested, our last chance may pass forever beyond our reach and all of those who come after us will pay a terrible price.

Once upon a time, our forefathers recognized that they were under the thumb of a tyrant. They espoused the following belief:

"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security." - Excerpt from the Declaration of Independence

When was the last time that anything our government did ANYTHING that benefitted something other than a special interest group? When was the last time they did something for We The People? When was the last time our government did ANYTHING that wasn't designed to enrich or empower themselves?

Our Founding Fathers believed it was their right, and their duty to cast off tyranny. We have inherited those same obligations and we owe it to our future and the future of our children to honor them. I just hope we still have the power left in our voices to evince the changes our republic needs to make. Otherwise we may end up following the same path our forebears followed to cast off tyranny and we will endure the same hell they did following that path.

You can read on their website about the law suits they have been involved with, and thank them(along with the citizens of GA that stood up and voiced their opinions) for the right to carry into restaurants. They have a pretty nice list of accomplishments and I would encourage every LC.org member to check them out and consider becoming a member. It's less than it costs for dinner and a movie and I can promise you it's WORTH much more than the best lobster n' action flick.

I'll second Jeff's suggestion on Georgia Carry. They are like the NRA, only with teeth. These guys really take it to them and aren't afraid to step on some toes to keep or expand our gun rights here in GA.

I know many that are members, and have lurked for nearly a year.
I guess it is time to go ahead and pay the dues.
