| Expand on this. I followed this link but became exhausted trying to make sense of it all. What has Obama said about the SA? | |

| It looks like this is (according to the blogger) something the White House has put out to explain our rights to us, the idiot citizens of America. I believe the point is that the Obama Administration is re-writing things to reflect Obama's view of the Constitution. The President believes that the Constitution is a document that tells citizens their rights, not one that tells the government when it's at it's limits. We should educate them all. | |

We should educate them all.
That is an important point and I find myself teaching the basis of the Bill of Rights to so many friends, even some conservatives ones. In a sense, the only Amendment that grants rights is the 10th Amendment which essentailly says you have a right to do anything that is not limited by the constitution. How many times have I had to tell someone that their 1st Amendment right was not being violated because some newspaper would not post their story is beyond me. People need to understand that only the government (or government backed entity) can violate your constitutional rights. If your neighbor physically stops you from speaking, it may be kidnapping or assault and battery, depending on the circumstances. Since the Constitution is not taught in school, educating them them all is necessary, indeed. | |
