There are at least 10 articles comparing Obama to Gorbachev. This is outrageous. You may not spot it on the surface but this is a very deep attack on America and our way of life.
For the record, Gorbachev did not bring about the end of the Soviet Union. President Ronal Reagan did. Reagan walked out at Reykjavik when Gorbachev changed teh terms of the peace talks. Reagan advocated and began building SDI(star wars). Reagan built up the military with a 600 ship Navy. Reagan played hard-ball and busted the USSR.
From the left's point of view(since they hated Reagan) they believe that Gorbachev served up the USSR with perestroika and other changes. They credit Gorbachev as the hero who broke 70 years of communist rule (though they secretly hate him for the very same thing but would rather credit a communist than evil Reagan). But the comparison they are making is that Gorbachev internally tore down his own country to make the world and better place and that OBAMA WILL BRING DOWN EVIL IMPERIALISTIC UNITED STATES to make the world so much happier.
I shoud not have to say this and but the United States has always been the antithesis of the USSR. Tearing down the US is to snuff out the last shinning light of freedom and liberty. But Obama wants us to be part of the world neighborhood, not leading it. We should look like France, Spain, Britain, Venuswala and of course Kenya. We will be a socialist banana republic and we will need to get permission from the UN to defend ourselves, to free some hostages, manage our monetary system. No longer will the US exist as an independent entity. All little despotic countries are equal to us. (Obama's words)
